Abstract
Image Processing for a Painted Relief Map Track: Cartography and Map Production Author(s): Jian Chen DEM data is processed to create the hill shaded and painted relief images by using Erdas Imagine 9.0 and ArcInfo. The road lines, feature names, and contour lines on DRG and a state map are extracted and mixed with those images separately. A single mixture image of terrain shown in gradual colors or gray scale and information from a graphic map is convenient and efficient for use in Web applications.
