Creating a GIS for an Emergency Operations Centre

After the 2005 City of Calgary Flood Disaster, the Calgary Fire Department found a need to increase the GIS capability within the Disaster Services Section. The implementaton of an upgraded GIS system in order to be better suited to Disaster Suited needs via a City of Calgary Initiative called GeoCity. This discussion outlines the uses of ArcGIS, SDE, and data needed to efficiently create maps and spatially analyse real time disasters within the City of Calgary.
