Abstract
EuroRegionalMap/EuroGlobalMap: A Technical Challenge Building European Spatial Reference Data Track: Cartography and Map Production Author(s): Anja Hopfstock, Stefan Flury, Nathalie Delattre, Marcus Brühl, Andreas Pammer In the past years EuroGeographics and the National Mapping and Cadastral organisations in Europe established multifunctional, pan-European topographic reference datasets at medium (1: 250.000) and small (1: 1.000.000) scales. These datasets--EuroRegionalMap (ERM) and EuroGlobalMap (EGM)--are produced in close cooperation, using the official national databases. The distributed production environment with heterogeneous production platforms and data formats is a challenge for all producers regarding data exchange and quality standards. ArcGIS and PLTS provide a production environment that facilitates the collection and maintenance of consistent and high-quality data sets. With the implementation of the data model into ArcGIS, the internal data exchange for edgematching and validation as well as data delivery to customers are improved. This paper presents the geodatabase model, application tools and QA/QC tools used in the ArcGIS environment for the production, validation and final data assembly of ERM and EGM.
