Integration of Climate Data in ArcIMS Map Services
Track: Climate, Weather and Atmosphere
Author(s): Bernd Haupt, Maurie Kelly

Climate data and other temporal data forms present many challenges to the end user and the developer of map services. The unique and varied format of the data, the requirements for continous update of data, and the changing nature of the attributes make integrating this data into map services a complex process. However, the inherent value in climate and temporal data--in such areas as emergency management--make it an important resource to develop. In this paper, the authors will discuss the unique nature of climate and temporal data and demonstrate map services developed utilizing this data. The demonstrations and discussions will focus initially on utilizing data from the National Weather Service/NOAA.
