Abstract
 AMC GIO Approach to Portfolio Management of Esri Software Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Luke Dustin The AMC Web-based Software Management System is a method to enhance real-time awareness of available software assets and forecast future requirements. The Air Force GeoBase Program has realized a substantial increase in Esri software assets requiring an efficient management approach. Software and maintenance costs affect the ability of the GeoBase program to meet customer expectations. Unfortunately, without an enterprise agreement, software costs would continue to rise at a rate which could take available money away from future program capabilities. In December 2005, AMC GIO developed a plan establishing a software baseline. The software was then categorized into priority tiers and maintenance terms. A Web-based application to effectively manage the plan was made available to base Program Managers in January 2006.
