NG Maps Uses GIS and Mobile Management for Olympic Games Track: Metadata and Data Publishing Author(s): Renee Walmsley National Geographic Maps uses GIS and Mobile Asset Management for Security during Turin Winter Olympic Games Safety and security professionals are counted on to protect personnel and economic assets. Efficiency demands that security professionals tie a lot of information together quickly, make decisions based on good planning and analysis, optimize reconnaissance and surveillance tactics and techniques, and identify and communicate threats to the team. National Geographic Maps has provided a GIS tool for security that enables quick and accurate data capture with the ability to share it across a designated network. Within the security industry, communication, data capture, time sensitivity, threat awareness, surveillance, planning and analysis, command and control, and executive protection are all themes that National Geographic Maps addressed during the Turin Winter Paralympic Games. Using GIS and Mobile Asset Management solutions, National Geographic Maps was able to address multiple security concerns and provide solutions for the security industry.
