Abstract
Crime and Neighborhood Characteristics Track: Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Author(s): Qiang Xu, Yu Zhou Compared with the national crime rate, the City of South Bend has an extraordinarily higher crime rate for crime against person and crime against property. This project is designed to have a longitudinal study of the patterns and trends of crime in South Bend from year 2000 to 2005 via tools of the Geographic Information System. Specifically, this project will examine geographic variations of crime over time, the relationship of different types of crime with neighborhood characteristics.
