Abstract
2D-3D Hybrid Data Modeling for Fire Evacuation Simulation Track: New Technology and System Integration Author(s): Inhye Park, Hyeyoung Kim, chulmin Jun As ubiquitous applications expands to diverse fields, using 3D GIS in indoor spaces is also getting attention. Although 3D modeling techniques are interchangeably used with 3D GIS, they are mostly focused on visualization of building surfaces or terrains and do not have topological structures that are required in spatial analyses. In order to perform position-based analyses such as query and pathfinding at a indoor level, we need to incorporate geo-referential and topological property into 3D objects. In this paper, we present a method to build a 3D geodata building model by integrating 2D GIS data structure and 3D model. Using the proposed 2D-3D hybrid model, we illustrate how to model and perform two different fire evacuation approaches; one is vector-based and the other is raster-based. We compare these two fire evacution models using a campus building.
