Geocoding Large Datasets Using an Address Lookup Table
Track: Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice
Author(s): Todd Wiles

The purpose of this session is to demonstrate how large datasets can be geocoded using an address lookup table in ArcGIS 9 and used in crime analysis. This process, when used on a dataset that contains a large number of repeating address, can dramatically decrease the time required to geocode a large input dataset. The entire process required to implement this process will be covered, from stored address table creation, to execution. Additional features including address correction during the geocoding process and the addition of attribute fields will also be discussed. Finally the performance of this process will be compared with geocoding exclusively using ArcGIS 9.
