Abstract
A New Perspective on Imagery: Integrating Oblique Photography Track: Remote Sensing Imagery Author(s): Shannon Porter Oblique photography, which is low elevation angled photography taken in multiple directions, is becoming a popular tool for governmental agencies. The photos facilitate viewing structures on all four sides, measuring of heights, and creating 3D representations of buildings. In March 2006 Johnson County AIMS acquired oblique photography as part of a regional effort. In an effort to maximize the user base of the new imagery, AIMS was dedicated to integrating them into an Internet-based interface. To accomplish this, AIMS developed innovative means for displaying and distributing this dataset in a simple but powerful interface. An additional goal was to make the images accessible through various software packages specific to local government. These software packages included emergency dispatch systems for public safety and mass appraisal systems. Implementation into these sytems and integration challenges will be presented.
