Abstract
Improving Field Service Efficiency through Effective System Integration Track: New Technology and System Integration Author(s): Wayne Scherffius, Glenn Wolf The Sacramento Suburban Water District recently brought integration of ArcGIS with other systems and data sources to another level. This technical presentation and live demonstration will show how Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Data Transformation Services, SQL views, and ArcSDE Geospatial Views are used to bring Automated Vehicle Location information, CIS customer and meter information, and linear and vertical asset information into the easily-accessible ArcMap interface with the CMMS extension. We will demonstrate how automatic and manually-created service requests and related data are quickly moved between systems, streamlining daily functions and processes. We will discuss the hardware, software, and communications technologies that have made these real-time systems available live in the field. This presentation is ideal for utility managers, GIS technology specialists, and consultants who wish to utilize these techniques to reduce costs, improve accuracy and efficiency, and extend the reliability of their entire system through proactive asset management.
