Abstract
Using ArcGIS to Document Land Use Controls at Contaminated Property Track: Environmental Management Author(s): Mark Petersen Using Esri ArcGIS 9 to develop a geodatabase, we have created a system that catalogues Land Use Controls (LUCs) at contaminated real property. Department of Defense (DoD) policy requires LUC implementation when sites cannot be restored to unrestricted land use conditions. Information regarding environmental LUCs needs prompt and accurate dissemination to various parties. The location of contaminated sites at Hickam AFB have been well documented during past site investigation phases, and geo-referenced shapefiles showing the site "footprints" have been consistently developed for all sites. By simply adding and populating appropriate attribute fields associated with the site "footprint" shapefiles, we have been able to document the existing LUCs at each site. The use of ArcGIS has provided an excellent tool to assist with the management of such properties.
