Abstract
 Historic Centres Protection: Umbria Region Experience in the Montone Drill Track: Disaster Management and Emergency Response Author(s): Maurizio Tesorini, Alessandro Severi, Leonello Artegiani, Antonio Natale The Umbria Region Civil Protection System has developed an integrated system, based on Esri technology, founded by S.I.S.M.A. Project (System Integrated for Security Management Activities to safeguard and protect historic centres from risks, Community Initiative INTERREG III B CADSES-Central European Adriatic Danubian South eastern European Space). The medieval village of Montone has been taken as test area because of its cultural heritage, particular location and seismic vulnerability. Ordinary rescue structures, government Civil Protection services and "citizens as first rescuers" all together took part to the drill. This synergy based on the accordingly developed integrated system characterized by a complete functionality also in absence of standard communication: a result obtained through the use of mobile technology. The system is made of a WLAN network with server and client devices (PC Server, Notebook, Tablet PC and PDA) and ArcGIS Desktop, ArcIMS, ArcGIS Engine, and .NET Framework mobile applications.
