Abstract
Hydrologic Information System Server Track: Water Resources Author(s): David Maidment, Dean Djokic HIS Server is an adaptation of ArcGIS Server 9.2 for serving water resources observations data, developed by CUAHSI. Observation networks are described by an observations catalog that indexes the sites, variables, and periods of data. The observational data are either stored locally in an observations database or obtained remotely through CUAHSI web services. Data from individual sites can be selected, viewed and downloaded, or selections of sets of sites can be made, for example, to find sites at which particular kinds of data have been measured, and a database compiled and downloaded of all relevant data from this site selection. HIS Server has a national implementation from federal data sources such as USGS National Water Information System, EPA Storet, and NCDC Automated Surface Observing System, and a regional application at CUAHSI observatory testbed sites, where regional and local information is added to the federal data sources for a particular area.
