Abstract
An Integrated Multi-users Application using a Centralized ArcSDE Database Track: Census and Geodemographics Author(s): Yingjie Wang The Geographic Area Analysis and Delineation System (GAADS) is being developed in order to facilitate the analysis and creation of the geographic entities for 2010 Census. The system is designed to support multiple concurrent users to conduct remotely for reading and writing operations on a centralized database built using ArcSDE and Oracle. GAADS allows users to import data, delineate entities, visualize and analyze entity properties, and perform quality assurance checks. GAADS has been used for the delineations of Assignment Area (AA), Crew Leader District (CLD), Field Operations Supervisor District (FOSD), and Local Census Office (LCO)/Early Local Census Office (ELCO) The tools and commands in GAADS allow users to execute consistent database transactions, maintaining data integrity and accuracy. System design and implementation considerations also include maximizing performance enhancement and data security. This presentation will give a brief description of GAADS design and implementation, and lessons learned in GAADS production activities.
