Abstract
U.S. Army ArcGIS 9.2 Replication/Synchronization Experiment Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Daniel Visone, Douglas Caldwell The Engineer Research and Development Center(ERDC) is investigating the ArcGIS 9.2 Replication/Synchronization capabilites to support the Army's concept of operations (CONOPS) for update and distribution of geospatial data in the field. The experiment examines the strengths and weaknesses of three options for synchronization: checkout/checkin, one-way, and two-way synchronization in both connected and disconnected environments. It simulates the update and distribution of the Theater Geospatial Database (TGD) throughout the Army at five echelons from the national level to the brigade level. The lessons learned from the experiment will be used to refine the CONOPS, specify workflows, and identify technical issues.
