Modeling Critical Infrastructure to Assess Domestic Vulnerability
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Author(s): Steven Jackson, Gregory Stone

The National Geospatial Intelligence Agency's (NGA) North American and Homeland Security Division is using Esri's ArcObjects to design an interface that calls geoprocessing models built with Model Builder to develop analytic models that access threat vulnerability in critical infrastructure nodes within the homeland. These assessments can be refined based on geographic variables. By leveraging robust data holdings throughout government infrastructure, analysts are better able to triangulate and interpret data against specific criteria. These tools are designed to provide situational awareness to the Homeland Security community for disaster planning purposes and response to threat reporting from data sources as needed.
