Abstract SanGIS Business Model and Processes for Data Maintenance and Sharing Track: State and Local Government Author(s): Andrew Abouna The San Diego Geographic Information Source (SanGIS) is a Joint Powers Agency of the City and County of San Diego that is charged with maintaining and serving a centralized landbase, warehousing and hosting a vast collection of widely-used geographic data for the region, and providing member and public mapping services. For more than 24 years, the data and services of the agency have supported many business functions for its member and other agencies. The processes to provide these functions have both evolved and became complex. To help optimize the processes, the agency recently developed extensive documentation of their architecture and coordinated with stakeholders to reengineer the landbase maintenance process. The following presentation will discuss SanGIS's geographic data business functions, the associated processes and architecture, how processes were reengineered to gain efficiency, and work efforts.
