Track: Defense and Intelligence
Author(s): Ryan Tombs, Larry Floyd

AFCEE has recently deployed an ArcGIS Server 9.2 based facilities management and tracking system that enables the Combined Security Transition Command Afghanistan (CSTC-A) in Kabul, Afghanistan, to better track its facility and project information. The system designation is the "Afghanistan Data Integration System" (ADIS).

The purpose of ADIS is to track and manage Afghanistan National Army (ANA) and Afghanistan National Police (ANP) data relating to projects, facilities, installations, financials and other associated data in a single enterprise GIS database. The resulting ArcGIS Server application provides real-time data access, reporting and spatial query functionality to all project stakeholders.

The ADIS Enterprise Data Management system comprises four main components, all of which pool resources:

  • The ArcGIS Server 9.2 GIS mapping and analysis application;
  • The Enterprise Geographic Information System (SQL Server 2005 / ArcSDE);
  • ADIS Database Maintenance and Reporting Application (DBMRA);
  • The ADIS facility data entry and approval system.
