Channel Stewardship: The Ultimate Portal Collaborative Effort

The Mississippi Geospatial Clearinghouse provides access to a comprehensive warehouse of Mississippi spatial information via a Web-Portal for use by all levels of government, academia, the private sector, and citizens. Channel pages were created to provide theme-specific information or applications and are accessible to all users from the right-hand menu of the Home Page of the Portal. Representatives from the Mississippi Geospatial Clearinghouse staff will share the collaborative process used in the development and maintenance of Portal Data Channels, and Portal Application Channels. The presentation will center on a description of practices used in initial requirements gathering, selection and training of stewards, design approaches, and technical implementation details.
