Abstract Enterprise Geodatabase Performance Testing: Tools and Metrics Track: System Implementation for GIS Author(s): Dana Nibby, John Farley, Ray Chilcote, Jun Wu Those who fail to plan, plan to fail. Those who fail to test didn't get the first point. Deciding how to deploy GIS across a large Enterprise presents challenging questions: How might Enterprise GIS impact current IT infrastructure? How much Enterprise GIS is sufficient to meet business objectives? And what evidence can one generate to answer these questions? While sizing charts and models are helpful, empirical results provide the best answers. This paper discusses how to use performance and load testing tools to help determine an appropriate Enterprise Geodatabase architecture. Topics include basic load testing concepts, tool selection, test case design, and putting it all together in a lab environment.
