Integrated Decision Support and Workflow Management System on Enterprise GIS
Track: Water Resources

Enterprise Geographic Information System (eGIS) is a good choice as a framework for the integrated floodplain modeling, and the management and distribution of associated information. In the regional watershed management system (RWMS), interface data models are used to build data repositories for water resources simulation models, and to integrate them on an eGIS platform. The time series data are transferred between the models through the information exchange points. Web portal component integrated with ArcIMS is used to distribute the modeling data to the engineering community and area organizations.

Model review workflows are implemented using customized versioning capabilities of the eGIS database. Model linkage, analysis, and visualization tools are also incorporated into the RWMS. Study coordination, and notification processes are implemented through RWMS web portal and workbench tools. The RWMS is populated with current FEMA flood simulation models together with the model documentation submitted through an integrated document management system.
