A Complete Pavement Management Solution from Raw Distress Collection to Red, Yellow and Green
Track: Public Works
Author(s): Craig Schorling

El Paso Public Works Department had the task to defend their funding requests for pavement. They decided to use MicroPaver to track the results of their surface distress collection. To maintain these results from MicroPaver, they needed a work order managing system. They decided to use Azteca Cityworks as their solution.

The City calls this project the Traffic Management Information System "TIMS". In order to keep all money from going to one part of the city, asset inspections were completed across the entire city. The resulting system has made the budgeting/spending process much clearer.

After completing the PMS, the mayor has embraced the red, yellow and green maps that communicate the 'hot-spots' within El Paso. Also, since the maps are derived from a robust enterprise "Esri" GIS within the city, specific tabular data can be distributed as well.

Environmental System Research Institute "Esri" is the lead manager for this project.
