Abstract RIPGIS-NET: An ArcGIS Custom Application for RIP-ET Package in MODFLOW Track: Water Resources Author(s): Hoori Ajami, Thomas Maddock III, Thomas Meixner RIPGIS-NET is an ArcGIS custom application developed in Visual Basic 2005, .NET framework 2.0 which runs in Environmental System Research Institute, Inc, (Esri)'s ArcMap 9.2 application. RIPGIS-NET was developed to derive parameters for the Riparian Evapotranspiration (RIP-ET) package in MODFLOW. RIP-ET is an improved MODFLOW evapotranspiration module that simulates ET using a set of eco-physiologically based ET curves. Two sets of input files are generated using the RIPGIS-NET user interface. First, the plant functional subgroup (PFSG) curve file is generated. Then, for each MODFLOW cell, both the fractional coverage of each PFSG and the average surface elevation is calculated. RIPGIS-NET inputs include: Riparian polygon shapefile, Plant Functional Sub Group (PFSG) Name file (.inx), MODLFOW DIS and BA6 files, and the DEM. The output from the RIPGIS-NET is a text file that has the required parameters for the RIP-ET package.
