Abstract Using ArcGIS Server to Communicate EMS Coverage in Oklahoma Track: Health and Human Services Author(s): Katy Rich The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) licenses and regulates emergency medical services (EMS) in the state and is required to communicate the status of EMS services to the citizens of Oklahoma via the Internet. To meet this requirement, OSDH staff used Esri's ArcGIS 9.2 and ArcGIS Server 9.2 to map EMS service areas and to create an interactive mapping website for the public. ArcGIS was used to digitize and evaluate the location and extent of current EMS services. ArcGIS Server was used to share the maps and related information on the Internet via an interactive map. Oklahoma citizens can access the site to identify their local EMS providers and determine what staffing and vehicle resources are available to them. This presentation describes the results of this project and demonstrates the use of the mapping website.
