Abstract Modeling Invasive Plant Spread in Alaska Track: Ecology and Conservation Author(s): Matthew Macander We developed a spatially explicit simulation model to characterize patterns of spread for invasive sweetclover (Melilotus alba) in Alaska. Invasive plants in Alaska are mostly found along the state's limited road system. Sweetclover is one of the most widely distributed invasives in the state, and has recently moved from roadsides to the floodplains of at least three glacial rivers and into recent firescars. Our model is designed to help decision-makers prioritize control efforts; to help researchers focus empirical data collection efforts; and to predict invasive species spread under different future climate scenarios.
