Abstract Reaching Out: Supporting the Community with Project Based GIS Track: Benefit of GIS Author(s): Scott Jeffrey, Jaime Alvarez Over the last year the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) Geospatial Applications program has developed several GIS /GPS projects which have benefited community based non-profit entities. Trail maps for local museums and arboretums as well as census based presentations for the local chamber of commerce have brought the outside community into the college's GIS program. This paper will present the strategies that have been used to develop community based projects which integrate GIS technology, ArcInfo, 3D Analyst and Spatial Analyst and what results have been achieved to support the non-profit community.
