Abstract Swiss Re's New ArcGis Server Intranet Application Using Google Maps Track: New Technology and System Integration Author(s): Marcel Andriesse In spring 2008 Swiss Re rolled out a new version of Swiss Re's hazard atlas based on ArcGIS Server technology and the WEB ADF. The hazard atlas combines global administrative and hazard data with Google Maps. The Intranet application gives users throughout the company access to reinsurance-relevant data in a fast and easy to use way. To integrate Google Maps into the Web Application adjustments were made to both server and client. The Java Script Library "Open Layers" was integrated, special scales and projections are used and several issues with the transparency were resolved. To meet user performance expectations ArcGIS Server caching is used extensively. With ArcGIS Server technology Swiss Re was able to combine all business relevant Geodata into one web application. For the future Swiss Re expects continuing advantages of ArcGIS Server for the integration of new data and services.
