Abstract Creating a Stormwater Geometric Network for Fairfax County, VA Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater Author(s): Keith Appler, Matthew Viverito, Patrick McLoughlin In 2006 Fairfax County Maintenance and Stormwater Management Divison migrated its existing stormwater GIS data into a geometric network feature dataset. Spatial Systems and Dewberry were selected to provide both technical and QA/QC support for this migration. The existing datasets included man-made stormwater features (STORMNET) and Fairfax County hydrography dataset (FHD) composing Fairfax County's most up to date infrastructure and natural stormwater conveyance system. The two systems work in conjunction and require data processing, attribution, and overall synchronization to be merged into one network. This presentation is going cover the streamlined process that Fairfax County MSMD, Spatial Systems and Dewberry utilized to create the geometric network, how Utility Network Analyst was used, and how ArcSDE/WTS server environment allowed for successful real-time sharing of data and remote collaboration. Fairfax County MSMD, Spatial Systems and Dewberry are excited to be presenting and share their experiences building a stormwater geometric network with you.
