Abstract Routing Software and Data Integration at Fairfax County, Virginia Track: Logistics Author(s): Jared Dunbar, Brendan Ford The focus of this presentation will be to provide insights and highlights of an interagency project at Fairfax County to route field collection vehicles. The emphasis of the presentation will be the improvements in business workflow, GIS and business data, software and personnel. The results of any routing application depend primarily on two factors: the underlying street data and the application itself. Part of this presentation will review the critical success factors of Fairfax County's multi-modal transportation data model. The effectiveness of the off-the-shelf solution, RouteSmart, will also be discussed. This presentation will also cover a phased integration from old mainframe database technology to new enterprise databases such as Oracle. Finally, one other critical success factor, training the business users, will be reviewed to include the user training plan and inter-agency goals.
