Abstract Bringing Critical Fire Information to the Scene Using GIS Track: EMS/Fire Author(s): Inez Pollok Through innovation and the need for standardization, the City of Danville, Virginia has implemented a Pre-Incident Survey application that provides integration into the City's Enterprise GIS. With the cooperation of key Fire Department personnel, an intelligent web form was designed to prompt and validate survey data, which is then stored in a SQL database. Where the Fire Department once dealt with inconsistencies in content, format, terminology, and spelling, it now has required fields, selection lists, automatic notification of annual reviews, and the ability to search and report on survey content. Integration allows street names to be validated against a Master GIS Address table and business names to be checked against business license data. Surveys are loaded to a geodatabase feature class and exposed via ArcGIS Server 9.0 to both intranet and laptop solutions.
