The Coast Guard Enterprise GIS: Supporting the Coast Guard's Missions

The core missions of the US Coast Guard are to protect the U.S. public, the environment, and U.S. security and economic interests in the maritime region. In order to execute these missions, accurate and timely GIS information is often required. The Enterprise GIS program was established to support these missions and supply users with critical GIS data, services, and functionality. Specifically, the Enterprise GIS has developed numerous enterprise-wide solutions to support the Coast Guard, including:
Geospatial data warehouse for managing and serving vast amounts of GIS data to Coast Guard programs and users
Web client with the capability to display and manipulate data from many Coast Guard applications and services
Tracking utility with the ability to display real-time and historical vessel positions and tracks
