Local Authorities Efforts towards GIS Application Within Limited Resources

The Kinondoni Municipal Council in Tanzania is among of Local authorities that has been witnessed the important of GIS in problem solving. The Municipal had the problem of tax payer's identification for property taxation, Billboards and identification of social services such as education facilities, heath facilities, water facilities and other infrastructure.

Awareness workshops have been conducted at Municipal level to Councilors, Heads of departments, Ward Executive Officers and Sub Ward Officers. In reality the GIS workers has helped the managers to plan according to limited resources

There are increased transparency, time saving, proper resources utilization, good storage and dissemination of information, effectiveness and efficient of the GIS tools and sustainable good governance
