The Benefit of 3D/GIS in the Management of Offshore Equipments

The management of equipments (manifolds, pipelines, platforms) in a 3D GIS environment, besides all of the analysis functionalities and queries presented in a conventional GIS, supports a better understanding of the data models, because in this environment, they are seen closer to the reality.

Like this, each operation can be better studied, considering many variables that can't be considered in a 2D environment, consequently providing operations with reduced cost and a minimum impact to the nature.

Actually, the main benefit of the 3D GIS, and the most important for users,is the 'easy-to-use' aspect. The next steps are: geoprocessing services and SAP integration.

On the server side, 3D GIS has APDM integration (Oracle Spatial and AGS 9.2), 2D/3D Map Services and PMF files providing essential information for many levels of professional in 4 different ways: ArcScene and ArcGlobe (data connection), ArcReader and ArcGIS Explorer (3D Map Services).
