Abstract POET: A Web Interface to NASA's Physical Oceanographic Data Track: Parks and Natural Reserves Author(s): Charles Thompson NASA's Physical Oceanography Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC) is responsible for archiving and distributing data acquired from instruments such as TOPEX (ocean TOPography EXperiment) and Seawinds on Quikscat, a scatterometer which measures wind velocities over oceans. These data are stored in scientific file formats such as netCDF and HDF, formats that are not necessarily copacetic with the world of GIS practitioners. This presentation will focus on POET, a WMS-compliant web tool allowing users to select and download PO.DAAC data based upon parametric, spatial, temporal constraints and output format, including GeoTIFF Charles Thompson Science Data Engineering and Data Delivery Group Jet Propulsion Laboratory MS: 300/320 4800 Oak Grove Drive Pasadena , California 91109 United States Phone: 818-354-9602 E-mail: Charles.K.Thompson@jpl.nasa.gov |
