Abstract NASA Earth Observations (NEO): Imagery for Outreach and Education Track: Parks and Natural Reserves Author(s): Kevin Ward NASA Earth Observations (NEO) dramatically simplifies public access to georeferenced imagery of NASA remote sensing data. NEO targets the unsophisticated, non-traditional data users who are currently underserved by the existing data ordering systems. These users include formal and informal educators, museum and science center personnel, professional communicators, citizen scientists and amateur Earth observers. NEO currently serves imagery from 34 different datasets with daily, weekly, and monthly temporal resolutions. Currently there are 6 additional datasets under development that shall be published by mid- 2008. Using any web browser, users are able to view and manipulate georeferenced browse imagery within NEO (e.g., applying color palettes, resizing, importing to NASA's Earth Observatory's Image Composite Explorer). In addition, users can download the imagery in a variety of formats (including PNG, JPEG, KMZ (Google Earth), GeoTIFF, and CSV) for direct use in several third party software packages. NEO datasets are also made available via WMS. Kevin Ward Science Systems and Applications, Inc.
