Author(s): James Neighbors

HSIP is geospatial database of United States critical infrastructure. To obtain user feedback and communication, NGA supports the Homeland Infrastructure Foundation-Level Data (HIFLD) Working Group. In September 2007, NGA established the new program call HSIP Freedom objective is to provide license-free geospatial datasets for national, state, and some local critical infrastructure to support homeland security/defense communities. HSIP Freedom will disseminate critical infrastructure data for national, state and local homeland security/defense users and first responders. NGA, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and US Geological survey (USGS) established the Program Partnership Working Group (PPWG) to support federal agency collaboration and joint decision-making for HSIP and other geospatial activities. The presentation will illustrate NGA's approach to acquiring HSIP data, user applications, and future plans.
