Abstract Citrix for Army Mapper Desktop Tools Deployment Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Julia Carter, Robert Crescenzi The Army's Installation Geographic Information and Services (IGI&S) Program has recently established centrally available geospatial software to support the needs of physically and organizationally distributed users as part of its Army Mapper enterprise GIS. Both software and data, secured with permissions-based access using AKO and CAC authentication, is accessed via a connection through Citrix. Using Citrix to distribute desktop GIS and CADD functionalities has many potential benefits, including improved performance, more effective license management, support to more users, and reduced desktop maintenance. This presentation will provide an overview of the Citrix environment for Army Mapper, outline the basic advantages of the Citrix environment, and discuss challenges discovered in migrating users to this new paradigm.
