Abstract Overseas Humanitarian Assistance Shared Information System for Department of Defense Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Kevin Johnson The Engineer Research and Development Center's Topographic Engineering Center (TEC) has been developing the enterprise GIS-based Overseas Humanitarian Assistance Shared Information System (OHASIS) for use by the Department of Defense. Initially, developed to support the Central Command CCJ-5C in increasing work efficiencies, information dissemination, and analytical capability it is now funded by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) and used by all COCOMs for managing their Overseas Humanitarian, Disaster and Civic Aid (OHDACA) funded projects. This GIS allows the Department of Defense to visualize Humanitarian Assistance (HA) projects on a web-based map display, automate report generation, and perform analysis for project suitability. Additionally, OHASIS provides a mechanism for the United States Government to share their appropriate releasable Department of Defense HA information to other organizations, to include both governmental and non-governmental organizations.
