Abstract GIS: Large Scale Systems Engineering Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Mui Whye Kee The use of GIS has evolved over the years from local production and individual research workstations, to integrated workgroups and GIS analysis teams, and more recently, to enterprise systems collating GIS info from multiple sources and disseminating them to distributed entities across the organisation. It has become more imperative than ever to design for GIS across the broad and complex scope of the enterprise environment. In such a complex environment as in Defence, Large Scale Systems Engineering can be applied to understand the complexities of the interacting relationships between environment entities within the boundaries of the environment. This will allow for focussed measurement and control, to meet known needs and to provide scalability for the future.
