SE Alaska Native Allotment Inventory Analysis Using GIS
Track: Tribal/Indigenous GIS programs

The Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian tribes of Alaska have undertaken a project to determine timber volume estimates on Native American Allotments located in SE Alaska. We will employ a technique using the Variography and Kriging modeling aspects of the Spatial Analysis extension of ArcGIS.
This information is critical in determining what resources are on hand on these land parcels. We can then address the possibilities for economic development reflected in a forest management plan for the SE Alaska Allotments.
This information will also be useful for other concerned agencies that have interest in the Tongass National Forest, where a most the Native Allotments are located.
