Elections and Censuses are persistent problems in Africa and Nigeria in particular. These have posed serious problems to peaceful political transitions and socio-economic planning and management in the Continent. A Nation without a free, fair, reliable and acceptable electoral processes and census results is bound to experience unstable polity, bad governance, poor socio-economic enviroment and curruption.

GIS Mapping of Electoral and Enumeration Areas has helped to promote good political transition and acceptable Census results in developed and many developing Nations Worldwide, because it is a tool that minimized political and other external interference when properly applied. It presents the true picture of situations therefore making the populace to be totally unbiased of its products/results.

The paper discusses the series of strategies adopted by Nations that have recorded tremendous successes in Elections and Censuses through the application of GIS and enumerates steps to be adopted in Nigeria.
