The GIS and Remote Sensing Centre was created nine years ago to support the development of a GIS-based education and research program at the National University of Rwanda. The centre is working closely with the NUR faculties and schools to integrate GIS related courses in the different bachelor and master programs of study. However, its main focus is to undertake research in the various fields of GIS and remote sensing. This paper tracks the most recent research projects in the fields of society and land, environment and natural resources management in Rwanda.
