AbstractIntegrating Local Knowledge into the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) Track: Water Resources Author(s): Wilma Robertson, Danielle Bruno-Favreau, Dixie Booker-Lair The NHD (National Hydrography Dataset) is the ideal place to maintain and store the best available hydrography data but it can be difficult to directly update for most irrigation organizations. The Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR) has developed an approach for local water managers to submit updates to the NHD. Using ArcGIS, the organization reviews and edits the NHD using custom tools and datasets that are incorporated into Editor and Utility Network Analyst tools at the ArcView license level. These tools flag changes and populate tables so that the data steward can satisfy the NHD modification requirements. IDWR reviews, incorporates, and submits the edits to USGS for incorporation into the NHD. The Burley Irrigation District served as a case study.
