Permission Information System in Forest Areas

Forests are necessary for all forms of life and economic growth. Preservation and sustainable management of forests are under the responsibility of General Directorate of Forestry in Turkey. In year 2008, a web GIS based program; “Permission Information System in Forest Areas” has been developed to manage the permissions in forested land for the Department of Cadastral and Ownership. It has been developed by using ArcGIS Server 9.2, ArcSDE 9.2, Oracle 10 g and .NET technologies. It is possible to monitor each permission process in forests, draw permission areas, fill up the permission forms, calculate fees, do geographical queries and analysis like buffer analysis, create statistical reports and thematic maps and display the permission areas with different symbologies on other geographical layers such as wetlands, watersheds, lakes, rivers, settlements, images of Turkey.
