AbstractUse of a Coverage Analysis Extension for Performance Metric Calculation Track: Defense and Intelligence Author(s): Jean-Denis Caron, Neil Carson ArcGIS has been used by analysts to estimate sensor coverage and then calculate performance metrics based on the results. In order to obtain an accurate estimate of sensor coverage, the ArcGIS extension Model for Analysis of Sensor Coverage (MASC) was developed. MASC allows for line-of-sight coverage to be calculated based on sensor parameters and terrain elevation. The output of MASC can be combined with sensor detection requirements and performance metrics can then be calculated. The presentation gives an overview of MASC, an example of the MASC output and how it is applied to the detection requirements. Several performance metrics, calculated within ArcGIS, are then presented to illustrate the utility of this process to decision makers.
