The Philadelphia Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has developed a web-based, geospatially enabled Firearms Analysis System (FAS) that has been integrated with the Philadelphia Police Department's (PPD) crime analysis and mapping tools.

FAS was created to serve two major functions:

1. To accelerate the transmittal of trace requests to the National Tracing Center by enabling detectives to enter the firearm and incident information when the gun is seized.

2. Provide greater analytical capability for mapping, searching and visualizing crime guns seized in Philadelphia.

Leveraging ArcGIS Server and the PPD's enterprise environment, the application has connected the users across multiple divisions in the police department as well as multiple law enforcement organizations.
