St. Johns County used ArcGIS to streamline sign asset data maintenance. This custom application allows field staff to validate existing signs, capture GPS coordinates for newly installed signs, assign MUTCD codes to new signs, capture images, and store those images with specific signs. The Esri software allows St. Johns County field staff to visualize existing sign assets as well as additional sign assets as they are captured while using a GIS and work order management system in the field. Additionally, St. Johns County implemented a documented management system to eliminate the need for paper in data storage and management, integrating this solution with the county’s GIS and CMMS. This GIS / document management integration allows users to select GIS data and the media associated with that data.
