AbstractSynergizing Field Operations, GIS, and Hansen: Fort Lauderdale Track: Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater Author(s): Jon Stahl, Shannon Geegan, Kathy Brown-Wynn The City of Fort Lauderdale currently uses Esri GIS for visualization and analysis of their water distribution system (the “what”), and also uses Hansen’s CMMS to manage assets in the water distribution system (the “activity”). Both systems individually benefit the utility; however the real value is created by linking the data and leveraging these strengths. This paper will detail how Fort Lauderdale created – and is executing – a hands-on condition assessment program for assets in the water distribution system which physically assesses valves and hydrants in the field, links assessment data directly into Esri GIS (physical attributes) AND Hansen’s CMMS, and finally how they have leveraged the synergy of both systems. Successfully integrating all this information has created a robust and seamless workflow between field operations, GIS, and Hansen. Successes, challenges, and best practices will be discussed.
