Abstract

Spatial Data Management System for German Military Infrastructure Administration
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Author(s): Torsten Schulze, Antje Grande

The Federal Office for Defense Administration developed a Spatial Data Management System to optimize military infrastructure administration and environmental protection processes.

Central part of the system is the inventory documentation of outside facilities supplemented by different web applications used to create real estate data and record environmental conditions.

ArcGIS-Server applications are used to visualize data in a zoom range from nationwide to single room within floorplans by web-presented CAD data and to query and symbolize existing room-attributes like size, number of electrical and IT-installation or floor covering. Data services of other organisations are integrated by server cascades, system access is controlled by an overall web portal.

The attributes of the spatial data are made available to the SAP environment through interfaces. ArcGIS-Server technology works like a middleware between different IT-systems and SAP RE and BI.
